University of Fukui

Nestled on the western coast of central Japan is the small city of Fukui, alive with traditional and modern Japanese culture and festivals, refreshing amid nature by the sea, and just a stone’s throw away from the bustling Kyoto and Osaka. In Fukui sits the University of Fukui, hub of innovation in a number of fields. The University of Fukui has four schools: The School of Engineering, School of Global and Community Studies, School of Education, and School of Medical Sciences. And there are 4 graduate schools: United Graduate School of Professional Development of Teachers, Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Graduate School of Engineering, and Professional Graduate School of Global and Community Management. Here, students from all over the world are welcomed every year, to study at the three world-class campuses, the Bunkyo Campus in Fukui City, Matsuoka Campus in Eiheiji Town, both in the northern part of the prefecture, and Tsuruga Campus in the southern part. These are equipped with state-of-the art facilities and are home to approximately 5000 Japanese and international students each year, accounting for about one-half of the prefecture’s roughly 11,000 university students. Forty percent of the teachers, thirty of the medical doctors, and thirty of the engineers and scientists in Fukui Prefecture are g1raduates of UF, which well evidences that UF plays a large part in the revitalization of Fukui Prefecture, by producing many of the advanced professionals who work there. The University of Fukui has held up the brand-new policy, “KAKUCHI, the driving force for the future of people and society.” Our mission is to create a better future for all.
